Abstract
This report is a directory to the maps of the wet sclerophyll forests
that occur to the west of the rainforest areas of North Queensland.
The maps were prepared from aerial photographs taken between 1990 and
1994. This report also includes tables that summarise the vegetation
and physical measurement data collected from 3,224 plots located within
the wet sclerophyll forests.
The 20m x 20m plots were arranged to facilitate sampling of the different
classes of vegetation comprising the wet sclerophyll forests. Transects
were located on the Mt. Windsor Tableland, Carbine Tableland, Lamb Range,
Herberton Range, Longlands Gap, Koombooloomba, Kirrama, Wallaman Falls
and the Paluma Range.
This study found that 48% of wet sclerophyll forests was invaded by
rainforest at the time the aerial photos were taken and that Eucalyptus
grandis forest proved most susceptible, with 80% of the area invaded.
